TRITURATION ~ the reduction of a substance to a minute state or division by means of long, continued rubbing or grinding.  A method of remedy preparation by which the finely powdered medicinal substance (usually insoluble in water or alcohol) is ground for a certain time with a pestle in a mortar with a certain proportion of lactose. Yasgur's dictionary
