wednesdays word

PROVING ~ Last weekend, Session 7 of 10 first year class, we learnt how much better it to understand a remedy when you have done a proving of it. Of course, Hahnemann did them regularly and some he never spoke about for 15 years until he was so sure of what it revealed. I really enjoyed my experiment of the Coffea cruda so I think I should be something more interesting like Ipecacuanha or China but I do not feel like vomiting or have malaria type symptoms while I am studying if I am already healthy and testing the remedy. I plan to consider this over the summer and will write properly when the time comes.
I debated putting a definition from the dictionary but I thought that I might just tell you what I know.

Provings are the testing of substances to find out what symptoms the substance is capable of producing and then curing. They are done on a healthy person in a relatively healthy state of mind and usually the prover will not know what he/she is taking. This will show what the "like" symptomalogy will be in a person when they are experiencing the same thing naturally. It is then documented and recorded in a specific way by the volunteer from the physical, emotional, mental or even spiritual as long as the change in the state is happening. We were told this weekend that often there are several groups of people that are involved and how they are chosen and what they take depends on their susceptibility. These findings are then shared and become the signature of the substance proved and added to the modern day Materia Medica.
One of the obstacles to cure in our present day is not doing enough provings on new substances. So much more to these provings but just for the day, I write this much.
